Meteor Garden: 2nd Ying De University

One day, I was binge-watching Meteor Garden; and I realized, it still felt the same “kilig” even after all these years. Next thing I knew, I was in Taiwan. Haha!

Based on my research, there are two schools used as Ying De University: National Chung Cheng University (Chiayi County, South Taiwan) and Tamkang University (Tamsui, North Taiwan). The latter is much closer to Taipei.

Update (as of 2020): I read a blog about the 3rd Ying De University located in Taoyuan City known as Kainan university. Unfortunately, I was not able to go there.

From Taipei main station get off at Tamsui Station. At this station, Hua Ze Lei saw Shan Cai at a distance looking unhappy, so he called her up and invited her for coffee.

From Tamsui station, ride a bus (R27 / 756) going to Tamkang university or walk. Let’s get some exercise, shall we? From Tamsui Station, walk across Zhongzheng east road. Walk straight along Yingzhuan road beside City Plaza. About 650 meters you will see these stairs. (see Google maps)

This is where Shan Cai had her morning exercise to prepare for those bully in school. Be sure to take a nice deep breath before going up.

You will see Tamkang university track and field. 

On the very left facing Tamsui river, you will see a 3 level monkey bar.

This monkey bar is where Lei used to hang himself upside down. It was taught to him by Teng Tang Jing to hold back his tears.

From track and field, go by the main entrance guard house (Jingsheng road) and look for this monument.

Follow the sign towards Carrie Chang Fine Art Center. You will pass by Tamkang university post office, Tamkang university Chueh Sheng Memorial Library until you reach CCFAC beside Sun Hao Hall. (see Google maps)

If you love arts, painting and stuff then this is the best place for you. Admission is free but taking photos or videos are not allowed. Aside from arts, there are few Meteor Garden scenes taken here.

Let’s reminisce some of the scenes.

Xi Men’s new girlfriend was into art. He, along with F4, went here so he can share his thoughts about it.

This also where Teng Tang Jing met F4 after getting back from Paris.

Remember that scene where in  Dao Ming Si told F4 that he’s going to U.S and continue his study there? Shan Cai heard of it and punched him in the face – aw! That scene is taken here.

This is also a favorite spot of F4.

When Shan Cai found out that Teng Tang Jing was going to settle back to Paris for good, she begged her to stay in Taiwan instead. Hua Ze Lei caught her and got mad. That scene is just right in front of Sun Hao Hall.

Shan Cai can be seen unhappy here as she saw Dao Ming Si and Xiao Zi kissing. (aw!)

When Shan Cai prepared a packed lunch for Dao Ming, she waited for hours but he stood up. He, on the other hand, was grounded by his ruthless mother.

 

At the very last episode of Season 1, we can see Mei Zuo and Xi Men in front of CCFAC.

Now let’s go to some other parts of this university where some scenes were taken. From Carrie Chang Fine Art Center walk towards Tamkang University Maritime Museum. If you are facing CCFAC it’s on your right. Walk until you see a stair and an airplane model. (see Google maps)

On one scene, Mei Zuo told Dao Ming Si that Shan Cai was back after dropping out from school and went to a distant province.

Finally, before Shan Cai and Dao Ming Si had their first official date, she gave him a kissed in the lips – ayie!

Though it has been 2 decades, memories of phenomenal Meteor Garden still lingers in our hearts. So that’s all folks.
